This day was the official start of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, but the celebration of the newest collections started a day earlier for me; so while this is the literal Day 2, the energy of the official Day 1 definitely picked up at Lincoln Center. For today’s look, I put together a few standalone pieces that, for the sake of not being naked, had to be matched with other standalone pieces.
Standalone Shirt: I got this amazing Henrik Vibskov shirt while spending time in Zurich, at a store called Fashion Slave. Walking along the Viadukt, around the same time that the Yeezy album leaked and “New Slaves” was in my head, I found it a sign to walk into this store. Watching the amazing prints from Vibskov earlier in the day from his Spring 2014 presentation in Paris, I was drawn to this shirt, intrigued by its complexity and independence. This shirt is definitely a standalone piece.
Standalone Bag: In order to keep from walking around with too much stuff, I walk around with portfolios and sleeves, like this sleeve from Ben Minkoff. It is actually an insert from one of my favorite bags from Ben Minkoff, but I enjoy using it as its own piece. Perfect for run of shows, ink pens, and even one bottle of water.
