I started this post with the direction of discussing the two or three looks from the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2014 Collection that I found to be wearable, but I started to find it very difficult to narrow it down. The prints were all over the place, I didn’t understand the pants, and I wasn’t quite sure why pieces were pairs in the way that they were. These thoughts lasted for about 5 seconds. Then the art of it all hit me. Duh, this is exactly what Phillip Lim was attempting to convey in his art for this season. An eclectic, worldly man with an eye for style, not just an eye for what others may determine “works” for him.
If you pull each piece as a standalone, they are all perfect for your wardrobe. A plaid shirt, a floral jacket, a printed bag – these all would look great against a backdrop of a plain, simple solid accompaniment. The sandals seem to be a bit too much like jellies, but some guy out there could do them justice – I myself would change those out for some metallic brogues and still execute the look.
