The title of The Urban Modernist set the exact tone for the Porsche Design Fall 2013 Collection. Inspired by “rigorist architecture and volume.” Thomas Steinbeck created a collection of clean lines, sold colors, and a strong focus on tailoring. The puffer jackets with the dramatic collar gave volume to the collection, as did the contrast in the sheen of the fabrics. The palette was simple and sharp; black, majolica blue were the main colors, while windsor wine gave the collection its trendy element; parallel to the popular oxblood hues of the season.
The accessories are notably mentioned in the collection, yet again showing the cohesiveness of the clean, sharp aesthetic of the collection. The tote bags were polarizing, as they could be as feminine or as masculine as necessary, and the men’s footwear combined performance with effortless style.
