The music world was taken for a pleasant shock this week with the announcement of a Destiny’s Child reunion! Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle are back together, making music and taking us back to the power of late 90’s/early 2000 R&B. The first evidence of this news comes with the New Song by Destiny’s Child, entitled “Nuclear”
New Music: Destiny’s Child “Nuclear”
The song starts with a typical Destiny’s Child harmonic sequence… almost a 7-part harmony done by only three women. Then, a beat similar to the drum sequence in any Baltimore Club song; in fact, when I first heard it, I couldn’t help but say “awwww pick it up, pick it up!” Then, the mellow, nearly Solange-esque vibe kicks in, with lyrics centered around love loss and love gain within ones self. The song is definitely a Destiny’s Child song, but with women who are much less like children now; the styling of the song is more mature, and the lyrics are definitely more mature than asking if a guy can pay the bill of an “Automo”.. whatever that is..
If a music video is every done for this, I see it set in a black and white backdrop, with lighting fading in and out for the occasional beauty/fashion shots of each child. Givenchy moments would be most appropriate styling moment, matched with long, straight weave (and maybe even a slight pat of that weave).
