Monique Lhuillier has no problem pulling out a bevy of show-stopping gowns every season — this is to be expected — and the designerʼs Spring/Summer 2013 show was no exception. What was especially impressive, was that Lhuillier managed to send out equally as chic ready-to-wear pieces, that when shown with the designerʼs iconic evening wear, resulted in a collection that flowed seamlessly from piece to piece.
As if Lhuillier hasnʼt already proved herself versatile enough, this season, the designer also added footwear to the mix, debuting a capsule collection of her first ever shoe line, a compilation of surprisingly sexy, strappy numbers in blacks, metallics, and bright pinks that provided the perfect juxtaposition to Lhuillierʼs modern, yet feminine collection, which was a tribute of sorts to the ocean.
“Spring 2013 is inspired by water and life of the sea.” Lhuillier said. From sleek pearlized leather dresses, frocks in teal and cobalt prints, to an array of super- shimmery pieces in rich teals, aquas and midnight blues, Lhuillierʼs water-inspired theme stayed true throughout. Top that off with 15 red-carpet-worthy gowns in delicate golds and beautifully intricate lace and tulle, and any girl will be left dreaming of a trip to
a luxurious fantasy isle.
