The John Paul Gaultier Spring 2013 Collection gave us a haute history lesson of music and fashion icons of the 1980’s. Grace Jones, Boy George, David Bowie (circa Ziggy Stardust), Annie Lennox and Michael Jackson were brought to the runways, as Gaultier created looks that were a literal, yet creative interpretation of each musician’s style. The models were full of life too; there was no room for stiff struts and the blank stare with a touch of smize – they gave life to the looks and took you down memory lane, yet Gaultier’s collection was so 2013. No doubt that this collection is modern, edgy, and does the perfect retrospective of pop music without being too dated or trendy.
