For Spring/Summer 2013, Z Zegna brought back the “cool” in the shiny suit. This season, designer Paul Surridge based his collection on the reconstruction of the almight khaki, a staple fabric for all things industrial and indicative of that era in which his collection appears more identical. The hard, boxy shapes and fabrics were matched with neons and jersey fabrics too lighten in weight and color. Half sleeve suits and jackets which were unconventional for this seasons menswear were functional without being too over-the-top for the current state of menswear. Zip front dress shirts added a subtle detail to a classic look, and the irridescent fabrics added yet another metallic element to the collection. Oversized collars are a hot trend for Spring/Summer 2013 and Z Zegna pulled it off with a military-inspired fit that tones down the “pimp” effect that big collars sometimes exude. Prefortared-detailed totes were the perfect accessory to accentuate the perforated tops in the collection, with the mix of patterns with contrasting colors added dimension and illusion to the collection
