Don’t let either of these be you! Whether running to grab a post-show backstage interview, or finishing up a piece before your deadline, the life of a fashion writer is truly tested during Fashion Week. For those of us who can’t function on coffee and cigarettes all day, we need to keep our energy, brain, and immune system strong; afterall, we aren’t here to just be seen – and we certainly don’t want to be seen as the Fainted Fashion Writer.
If it were up to me, I would just encourage all of us to pray for a fridge fully stocked with Fiji water and Muscle Milk, so this is why I asked celebrity chef, Chef Mitchell to give us culinary ideas to keep us free of famine. Get his insight below:
You need high energy food to handle this high energy, high impact and high profile week of fashion, so here is my New York Fashion Week suggestion: Eat Breakfast! “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” is not just a cliché saying. If you skip breakfast, your energy levels will be low all day.High fiber, complex carbohydrates, and protein is what you need to start your day and stick with you until your next meal time. My perfect Fashion Weekbreakfast is oatmeal with fruits and berries, turkey sausage, wheat toast, yogurt and cup of coffee.
I am very aware that there are meals other than breakfast. I am not going to tell you what to eat for every meal, but I will tell you what to stay away from foods that are high in sugar and low in fiber, such as donuts, soda, candy and fast food are all Fashion Week faux pas. Remember to stay well hydrated all day, pack a healthy snack for those long days and in between meals.
